Credit cards charged for BackerKit orders & shipping fees!

Hi Backers,

We just wanted to provide you with a heads up that we initiated charges for any pending fees for credit cards this morning. The charges that were initiated can include any combination of the following:

  • Add-on items from the pledge manager
  • Shipping fees 
  • Fees not paid through Kickstarter as a result of late pledges / pre-orders 
  • Additional funds owed 

You should have received a confirmation email for all charges that were successful. If there were any issues with payment then you'll receive an email letting you know how to correct payment info in order for the order to process.

If you need to review payment or shipping address information, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://murdercastle.backerkit.com.

Note: If you are a late pledge or pre-order customer, you will not show up in Kickstarter as a backer. This is because the order was placed in BackerKit after the Kickstarter campaign ended and Kickstarter does not track that info.

This marks the completion of another milestone and allows us to place our order with our manufacturer to begin production on June 1, 2020! 

We will continue to provide a minimum of monthly updates through Kickstarter throughout the production process. Our best estimate currently is that we are running ahead of schedule and will aim to lock shipment addresses in BackerKit on September 1, but this could be adjusted +/- by 2 weeks. We will do our best to provide a 1-month reminder when shipping addresses will need to be locked and finalized. 

Here's our top 5 list of new updates!

1.) We've started The BGC Blog! Our first post is available here and would love if folks could comment on any posts that resonate with you! We will try to leave some questions at the end of each blog for you.  While we have a list of 10 posts that we will be writing shortly, please feel free to suggest blog posts in the comments on this Kickstarter page!  

2.) Our clothing shop is now online! We have personally ordered a few items to begin testing out the merchandise and we may make revisions to products or designs as needed and based on any input from those that do place orders. The orders are slow to fulfill due to COVID-19 delays, but we did receive our orders in ~3-4 weeks. We absolutely love the mugs! https://www.blueprintgamingconcepts.com/shop-1

3.) We have been reviewing each component and the rulebook and are now making final adjustments on those changes, we will do a few more passes, and then begin the uploading of the artwork assets to the manufacturer to initiate production! 

4.) We now have over 20 board game reviewers scheduled to review the game for our fall release! Those articles, videos, and podcasts will begin to go live in September and October. 

5.) We will schedule our next "Castle Chat" soon for early to mid-June and very excited to announce that Holly Carden, the game's fearless and super talented illustrator, has agreed to join! 

Updated Timeline & Drafted Rulebooks

We hope everyone is doing well and have some news to share regarding our updated timeline. Despite COVID-19, we are on track to meet our original target delivery to backers in October! We've been in many conversations with our fulfillment and manufacturing partners to further confirm this. 

Why do we not have impacts? The short answers are that there has been a little bit of luck with the timing of our campaign, we planned a contingency month that would not impact the shipping or delivery of the game, and we are using a manufacturer from China who is ramping production back up at a quicker pace since the US is still mostly under quarantine. 

With that said, we do want to move quickly into Production and will be initiating manufacturing production on June 1 (just 49 days)!!! To make this happen, we wanted to share a few key deadlines for the next 30 days.

1.) Thank you to the ~92% of backers that completed the survey and provided your shipping information. We will lock all orders on Thursday, May 7, which happens to be the date Holmes died. Locking the orders means you won't be able to make any changes to your existing order (upgrades, quantities, add-ons, etc.). This will help us plan final manufacturing counts. 

2.) We will plan to charge remaining fees (add-ons, upgrades, and shipping fees - if they were not paid during the Kickstarter campaign) on Friday, May 15, which happens to be the day before Holmes was born!

3.) You will still be able to make changes to shipping addresses even after the order is locked and fees are charged until we lock down the addresses. The lock down of addresses will take place later, likely in late August to mid September depending on how we are progressing with production.

Below is our planned and updated timeline:

  • April 2020 - Final Rulebook including 2nd Story Expansion
  • May 2020 - Quality Checks & Finishing Touches
  • June 2020 - Production Begins 
  • July 2020 - Rulebook Translation
  • August - September 2020 - Distribute Final Games to Reviewers for our October Launch
  • September 2020 - Shipping Begins
  • October 2020 - Estimated Delivery

Additionally, we are planning to finalize the rulebook by the end of April so we can perform our quality checks and any finishing touches on the rulebook and game components throughout May. The website now includes a wordwide locator map with city or country destinations for backers and retailers and a list of all press, videos, interviews, etc. We will also be starting a blog / forum on our website over the summer.

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! We have a few updates for you and are looking for folks input on a few items. 

1.) We have developed the first copy of our rulebook credits page thanking backers and providing a special thanks by recognizing those that unlocked certain features or rooms for all backers. Additionally, we wanted to thank all of our playtesters that helped provide us feedback to improve the game. You were a playtester of the game if you helped play the game and also provided a completed a playtest form. For example, at C2E2 we were running playthroughs and weren't playtesting. We did run playtests at Good Games Chicago, Dice Dojo, and at Save Against Fear. If you were a playtester or an Accomplice reward level, please review the Proposed Rulebook Credits Page link below by April 30, 2020 and provide us with any corrections in case there are any names that may be spelled incorrectly. 2.) Thanks to those that participated in our first Castle Chat. It was great to interact with backers and hope to do more of that this summer through more Castle Chats and Blog Posts. We recommend skipping the first 5 minutes. :) If you have suggestions for future Castle Chats or Blog posts for late spring and over the summer, let us know in the comments below. We also announced that we will be unlocking and including the 19th Century Murder Castle Tweets with all backer game copies. Social media has a been a huge part of why we were funded and we want the interaction to continue even after the game has been delivered. The game has funny "absurdities" that come in from time to time because of the nature of the rooms or event cards and a photo combined with these hashtags help capture the moment if they occur during your games!

3.) Thanks to everyone that completed the pledge manager survey already! It's been less than 2 weeks and we already have 75% of all orders completed. This is amazing! There's ~260 backers that still will need to complete your surveys before we can lock the orders. The current deadline is May 31, 2020 but we will keep you posted if that changes based on everyone's progress. For those looking for the email, it should be from sender no-reply@s.backerkit.com and the senders name is "Seth & Brandt @ Blueprint Gaming Concepts."

4.) We are working to finalize the remaining artwork and rules for Automa (Solo Mode) and Play as Holmes (as a reminder both gameplays are a part of the 2nd Story Expansion and are expected to now be complete by the end of April). We wanted to provide a very high level overview that relates to this first preview of the Holmes Control Panel (we talk about this a bit in the Castle Chat also) so we can ask for your feedback on the design. Please let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or comments regarding the Holmes' Control Panel preview below! This is the equivalent of the player evidence boards but instead Holmes unlocks actions and abilities to help issue 10 Holmes' strikes across other players throughout the game. 

  • 1.) Holmes will start out with a few action cards that can be placed face down on top of any of the standard action tiles. 
  • 2.) Once a player selects that action tile, Holmes will complete the action that was on top of the standard action tile before players complete their action. 
  • 3.) Once the round is complete, a Holmes Movement Card is revealed and Holmes chooses where to move if more than 1 option exists. 
  • 4.) After each round, Holmes gains a cube to place on the Holmes Control Panel unlocking the corresponding action card to place on top of the standard action tiles for the next round. 
  • 5.) Holmes Placement of Cubes:
  • - While cubes can be placed in any of the categories at any time (Castle & Movement Modifications, Destroy Evidence, and Plant Fake Evidence), they must be placed in alphabetical order as it relates to the #. For example, a cube cannot be placed in 1b until a cube has been placed in 1a first.
  • - 1c and 2c both need a cube to be placed in each square before unlocking that ability (which also means 1a, 1b, 2a, and 2b also need to have cubes placed). 
  • - If 1a and 3a each had a cube. Holmes next cube placement could either be 1b, 2a, 3b, or 4a.
  • 6.) The Holmes Tracker will enable the player playing as Holmes to move a cube to the total # of strikes they've issued to players. 
  • 7.) Holmes will choose 1 special ability card which can be used once per game and will place it face down next to the Special Ability illustration at the bottom right of the board below.

Hello backers!

We are finally ready to go live with our pledge manager and survey. You should now have received an email or will be receiving an email very soon from BackerKit, our pledge manager.

Pledge Manager - What You Need to Know!

For those new to Kickstarter, a pledge manager is an external online resource that helps us manage post-campaign transactions like pre-orders and shipping, allowing backers to add additional games to their pledge or upgrade their reward levels you selected during the Kickstarter campaign. This also allowed us to work on updated estimates for shipping, and in some cases beating the estimates provided on Kickstarter.

You will be asked to provide shipping and billing information the same as any online purchase. This is to cover the shipping costs, quantity changes, upgraded reward selections, and add-on's. 

Note: If you backed for $1 or more, you may now "switch your pledge level" and will be charged for the difference. If you do not wish to receive any game copies, though, you do not need to participate in the pledge manager and may simply ignore the welcome email. The "switch your pledge level" option will be right below the big green Get Started button on the first page of the BackerKit website.

This is a great time to increase your pledge and your last chance to receive the game with Kickstarter discounted pricing.  When you stay at your reward level or upgrade your reward level, you lock in the Kickstarter discounted pricing. When you select add-ons,  you lock in the late pledge / pre-order pricing. All pledges and pre-orders will include all stretch goals unlocked from the Kickstarter campaign.

We know that when we send out the welcomes and reminders, it may not catch you at the right time. In the coming weeks, we will be sure to send a few reminders. 

Once we are ready to ship the games, we will need to close the pledge manager, locking in our shipping destinations and quantities. You will need to make your purchase and lock in your shipping address by then. We will provide you notice and plenty of reminders, but your best bet is to complete the shipping and billing info and survey as soon as you can!
